Morbius returning to theatres due to memes
Yes, you read right. Morbius is so bad that it’s returning to theatres.
Morbius, a Sony Spider-Man Universe production, is returning to theaters. According to Gizmodo, the movie will be added to over 1,000 theaters starting June 3 despite the fact that it was down to just 83 screens over Memorial Day weekend, bringing in a measly $35,360.
The excitement over the film was over its ties to Spider-Man which allowed it to gain a very solid, near-$40 million opening weekend. In the next weeks, though, that progressively got worse making just over $73 million in the U.S. and about $90 million worldwide. Despite that not being a full flop, it’s certainly not what Sony had in mind when it cast Oscar winner Jared Leto in the lead role.
The vampire superhero Spider-Man spinoff was not received well among both critics and fans alike becoming an online mockery in the process. This has caused many to (somewhat ironically) show their enthusiasm for the movie, pushing Sony to use this as a marketing tool and apparently put the movie back in theaters.
It’s Morbn’ time again I guess?
