YG Entertainment taking legal action against BLACKPINK hack!
BLACKPINK's management agency YG Entertainment announced that they will be taking legal action against the hackers that leaked private photos of group member Jennie.
This comes after multiple pictures shared on Twitter and Telegram appeared to show the Blackpink member out with V, from K-pop band BTS. This seemingly confirms recent circulating rumors that the singers are dating.
Besides fueling dating rumors, the account also leaked alleged photos of other K-Pop stars, including a photo BLACKPINK’s Jisoo posted on her own Instagram hours after the leaker did.
"The recent mass production of rumors, accusations, personal attacks, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy sparked by the personal photos have been occurring indiscriminately, so we felt a sense of responsibility, making it difficult for us to overlook this any longer," the statement read.
"We inform you that we have filed a complaint for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, violation of the prohibition of illegal information distribution, and obscene use of communication media for the actions of repeatedly uploading information that has not been verified to be true and writing excessively malicious posts."
The agency said they initially refrained to comment on the situation to minimize further damage.
So far, two of the social media accounts that have shared the images have been suspended.
Blackpink's recent Born Pink album has topped the charts in the US and UK last month, while BTS recently announced a hiatus to work on solo projects.
