“The Wendy Williams Show” ending after 14 years without host
The Wendy Williams Show is officially coming to an end.
“The final original episode of The Wendy Williams Show will air on Friday, June 17th with a video tribute to the iconic host. The series comes to an end after 13 successful years in syndication,” a spokesperson for the show told Variety.
Wendy Williams has been dealing with health issues since 2020 and officially went on medical leave last September. Since then, many celebrities have hosted the show swapping every couple of days.
It was announced in February that a daytime syndicated talk show hosted by Sherri Shepherd, also produced and distributed by Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury, will make a syndication debut on the Fox Television Stations and broadcasters nationwide this fall, and will inherit Wendy’s time slots.
In the meantime, Willams has been fighting Wells Fargo to restore control over her accounts after the bank wrongfully closed off her access to funds. “I want all my money,” she said in the “GMA” interview. “I want to see all my money that I’ve worked hard for my entire life.”
She also reassured fans saying she was ready to resume her duties as the host of the daytime talk show host.
"I'm very comfortable," Williams said at the time. "My partners with the show, everybody's ready. Give me about three months. There are private things that I have to deal with, and then I'll be ready to come back and be free and ready to do my thing."
The Wendy Williams Show debuted in 2008 and was always in the headlines — particularly on social media. Fans grew fond of the former radio host's bold, controversial takes on celebrity gossip and pop culture and will always remember her as such.
