British singer, Damon Albarn, has apologized to Taylor Swift after accusing her in a Los Angeles Times interview of not writing her own songs. The false comments made by the British musician set off a storm on social media as fans came to Swift’s defense.

Swift, who is either always credited as a songwriter or co-songwriter on all of her albums, responded to the interview in a tweet, saying it’s messed up to “try and discredit my writing.”

“PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering,” she added.

Albarn, who is known for being the lead singer of the rock band Blur, tweeted an apology to Swift later that night.

“I had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait,” Albarn said. In his apology, Albarn wrote, “I apologize unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand.”

In the article, Albarn says that co-writing “doesn’t count.” He then goes to praises Billie Eilish’s songwriting skills which is extremely contradictory as Billie tends to co-write her songs with her brother, Finneas.
