Kim Kardashian is finally single after 8 years of marriage with Kanye West.

LA Superior Court Judge Steve Cochran granted Kardashian’s motion seeking her legal status. West initially challenged Kim’s request to be declared legally single, but the judge overruled the requests.

The reality star has also changed her last name from Kardashian West back to Kardashian.

Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West, in February 2021, following months of speculation about their marital status. The couple got married in May 2014 after dating for two years and share four kids: North (7), Saint (5), Chicago, (3) and Psalm (2).

Kim's been asking the judge to restore her single status since December, when she stated in documents, "I very much desire to be divorced." She also said she asked Kanye to keep their divorce private (which he obviously hasn’t) and that his social media posts had caused "emotional distress."

On the other hand, Kanye fired his attorney, Christopher Melcher the day before the hearing, replacing him with Samantha Spector, who had less than 24 hours to prepare before appearing in court.

Although Kim is currently single, the couple still have a long road ahead of them. They are both due back in court on August 5 for a status hearing on their divorce proceedings.
