Blake Shelton leaving “The Voice” after season 23!

Via NBC

Blake Shelton announces he is leaving “The Voice” as a coach after 12 years.

NBC has announced the line-up for the coaches in the upcoming season of “The Voice.” The panel will include returning coaches such as Blake Shelton (who is bidding viewers farewell) and on-again-off-again coach Kelly Clarkson, but two new faces are joining them. One Direction’s Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper will officially serve as coaches, making it the first time in a while that the competition series welcomes more than one new coach. Carson Daly will return for his post as the show’s host.

That being said, this will be Shelton’s last season on the show. He is the only coach that’s appeared in every season of the show since its debut in 2011. “I’ve been wrestling with this for a while and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after season 23,” Shelton said.

“This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me. It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at “The Voice” from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew, and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages to pull off a live show twice a week. I’ve made lifelong bonds with Carson and every single one of my fellow coaches over the years, including my wife, Gwen Stefani!”

A premiere date for season 23 is yet to be announced, but watch season 22 of “The Voice” on NBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. with Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Camila Cabello, and John Legend as coaches.
