BLACKPINK is finally coming back with new music this August!

YG Entertainment, their agency, announced on July 6 that BLACKPINK will make their comeback in August and are currently in the final stages of recording their new album. They also plan to start filming a music video this month.

In addition, YG Entertainment confirmed that BLACKPINK will embark on the largest world tour for a K-pop girl group towards the end of the year.

YG Entertainment shared in a statement:

“We have prepared a lot of BLACKPINK-esque music that has been prepared with great effort over a long time. By the end of this, alongside their comeback, BLACKPINK will embark on the largest-ever world tour for a K-Pop girl group, to expand their communication and reach with fans around the world. We will continue large-scale projects for the group as well.”

Recent reports showed that YG Entertainment's operating profit & sales have reportedly decreased significantly in the first quarter of 2022. Operating profit has fallen 36% to ₩6.1B & sales are down 22% to ₩75.5B compared to last year. Noted as key factor, for those major losses, was BLACKPINK's absence.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that when YG Entertainment made the official announcement for BLACKPINK’s return and tour, their stock immediately skyrocketed 10%.

It's been almost two years since BLACKPINK released their debut full-length album aptly titled The Album back in 2020. The album had huge moments, like the its single How You Like That and the special collaboration track Ice Cream with Selena Gomez (and Ariana Grande who co-wrote the track).

BLINKS can now take a huge sigh of relief knowing that their favorite girl group will be returning guns-blazing very soon.
