Sabrina Carpenter Throws Us Through “Fast Times”
After teasing fans with the release for a little over a month, the former Disney star released her new song that was co-written by Julia Michaels, JP Saxe, and John Ryan.
The song is a playful pop song about falling into a new relationship quickly and living your early years. Piano and acoustic guitar deliver jazzy chords while Carpenter sings “Couple days in, I call you “baby” / Three stories up here contemplating/ But what the fuck is patience?” You can clearly hear the bass as the chorus kicks in and the piano drops out. You can later hear string instruments adding a sultry element to the song.
The song is accompanied by a video that was directed by Amber Park. It shows Sabrina as a femme fatale in an early-aughts-style action film.
This is a great step forward for Sabrina as she sheds her Disney skin and finally comes into her own. Her music will definitely mature over the years as she becomes consolidated in the music industry.
While Sabrina has teased that there will be an album released sometime this year, she has not given a title or definitive date yet.
