Anitta & Glass Animals take Spotify by storm!
Glass Animals’ Heat Waves
Glass Animals' trip to the top at radio has actually taken close to two years, from its June 2020 release to its rise on Billboard's Hot 100 chart recently.
Glass Animals‘ “Heat Waves” is now topping the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth week, after completing a record 59-week climb to #1.
The British band’s hit drew 56.7 million streams in the March 18-24 tracking week alone. Not only that, but it has been over 6o days at #1 on the Spotify Global Chart showcasing its success worldwide.
“Heat Waves” now ties for the ninth-longest reign among songs by British groups in the chart’s 63-year history. The song boasts the longest command by a British group since Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” over 25 years ago.
Anitta’s Envolver
Brazilian star Anitta has been rising steadily in recent years, but she hit an important milestone last week with her latest single “Envolver” which reached 7.23 million streams on Spotify earning it the number 1 spot on the Global Spotify Chart.
Anitta’s label, Warner Music Group, lauded the achievement, as she became the first Brazilian artist to achieve this milestone.
The reggaetón hit has surged on TikTok via a viral dance challenge in which fans imitate Anitta’s dance moves. “This is incredible,” she said of the song’s reception during an Instagram Live. “It’s nothing before seen in Brazil.”
Warner’s Simon Robson commented saying: “I believe the trend of hits coming from across the globe will accelerate as more people in emerging markets sign up to streaming services, and as we get better at introducing this global talent to the rest of the world.”
