The Drag Race Universe is Expanding!
RuPaul’s Drag Race is sashaying over to a new network for Season 15, and expanding it’s already huge universe!
After jumping to VH1 from Logo, the franchise’s latest home will be MTV, where new episodes for season 15 will begin airing on Friday, January 6.
Three new country editions have also been set for release: Brazil, Germany, and Mexico. They will air on Paramount+ in their respective territories.
RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race will return for Season 3 in 2023 on VH1.
“With the global expansion of RuPaul’s Drag Race, we’re thrilled to bring the franchise into three new Paramount+ territories – Germany, Brazil and Mexico – and are very excited that RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race will return for a third season with our partners at VH1/BET,” said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO, Paramount Media Networks & MTV Entertainment Studios.
Drag Race initially launched on Logo back in 2009, with subsequent international editions living on the WOW Presents Plus subscription streaming service and select seasons of its All Stars spin-off — including All Stars 6 and the All Stars 7 all-winners season — rolling out on the Paramount+ platform..
Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, CEOs at World of Wonder, said the company is “delighted to expand its partnership with MTV Entertainment Studios.”
“Drag Race is about universal themes of love, self-expression and acceptance — and there has never been a more important time than now for these ideas to be expressed internationally,” they explained.
No news on cast reveals or promos as of yet, but as we get closer to the series premiere, we will surely receive more information!
