Marvel Studios has changed its vision for its upcoming Armor Wars project, from a series intended for Disney+ to a feature film.

Little is known about the upcoming Marvel proejct in which Don Cheadle is set to reprise his role as Colonel James Rhodes, better-known as War Machine. Yassir Lester, who was acting as head writer on the series, is still on board the project. However, according to THR, the studio was dedicated to getting the story told the right way and in that process realized that a theatrical release was better suited for the project.

Cheadle’s next Marvel appearance remains the MCU series, Secret Invasion, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn and is scheduled to debut in 2023.

The Armor Wars movie does not yet have a release date. It will likely be set during Marvel’s Phase 6.
