Hayden Panettiere will reprise her role as Kirby Reed for the next installment of the Scream franchise.

Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures resurrected the slasher movie series in January with the fifth installment that proved successful as it garnered more than $81 million domestically and $140 million worldwide.

Plot details for the new movie are being kept secret, but the companies said the new film “continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.”

Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Jenna Ortega, who starred in January's reboot and had their characters survive, will therefore return to the upcoming movie.

The creative team behind the reboot is all back as well. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick return to co-write the screenplay while Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo known as Radio Silence, are back as directors.

The movie is set to premiere March 31st, 2023.

The new Scream film will mark Panetierre’s first appearance on the screen in eight years.
