Halle Bailey; A Star on The Rise

Halle Bailey is slowly becoming a star in front of our eyes.

Chloe x Halle’s Halle Bailey has been slowly blossoming into a well-rounded actress.

She has recently been cast as Nettie in the upcoming Warner Bros. movie adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical “The Color Purple”, which is itself an adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. The production will be directed by Bazawule, best known for his work on Beyoncé’s Black Is King and The Burial of Kojo. Marcus Gardley wrote the screenplay, based on Walker’s novel, the 1985 film, and the stage musical.

Variety revealed that Bailey will be joining Fantasia Taylor who has been cast as Celie and Orange is The New Black’s Danielle Brooks who will play Sofia. Taraji P. Henson has been cast as Shug Avery. The new cast members join formerly announced stars Corey Hawkins (who will take on the role of Harpo), and Oscar and Grammy-winning artist H.E.R. (who was cast as Squeak).

“The Color Purple” begins production this spring and is expected to be released in 2023.

Not only that but Halle is currently filming theThe Line, alongside Euphoria’s Angus Cloud and Alex Wolff.

According to Deadline, the movie “is being described as a coming-of-age thriller at a university that encapsulates the wild excitement of being young and the dangers of living without fear of consequences.”

Halle will also be appearing on every big screen soon as she wrapped filming last year as Ariel in the Disney live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. The movie is currently set for release on May 26th, 2023.

You can also see Halle is the black-ish spin-off series grown-ish, as it recently returned with new episodes. Halle will only be making brief appearances via video chat this season as her character has been off to compete in the Olympics, as she filmed The Little Mermaid alongside the series simultaneously.

Halle can transform from being in a comedy series to being in an iconic Disney remake to starring in a well-known role or thriller.

It seems like the young actress has found a place in Hollywood. And I’m glad for it, because if her acting is only going to get better as grows up just like her vocals did, then we are definitely in for a ride.
