BLACKPINK are back & are spreading their “Pink Venom”!

BLACKPINK are officially back!

Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated album, BORN PINK, BLACKPINK have released their lead single, “PINK VENOM”.

The song starts with the chanting of the group’s name over a continuous Arabic Oud preparing you for the explosion that is about to happen. It then blasts into a rap verse by Jennie backed by an electronic beat mixed with a Middle Eastern percussion. The record then briefly shifts into a sample of Rihanna’s “Pon De Replay” as Lisa executes her rap verse flawlessly. The song is a perfect tag-team between the girls with Rosé & Jisoo handing Jennie & Lisa a 90s Hip-Hop verse after their beautiful solo harmonies.

As the song switches up to the chorus, the group collectively sing: “I bring the pain like… This, that pink venom/This, that pink venom/ Get’em, get’em, get’em/Straight till your dome like woah woah woah.”

During this segment the group is performing their signature tightly choreographed dances against a series of futuristic backdrops. The music video itself is magnificent. Every detail is paid attention to. Multiple elaborate and vibrant sets are featured, giving us a taste of the high quality production that could be expected in their upcoming album.

The song is already a hit with fans garnering over 100 million views in less than 24 hours.

Overall, the song is what can be expected from the group. High quality production and catchy music. However, despite each member forging their own solo careers for a while, the group is tighter and greater than ever. The girls all shine on the record and have clearly elevated their skills during their short break.

BLACKPINK’s album “BORN PINK” will be released on September 16th.
