Queen Bey is back!

Nobody does a comeback like Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter. She invented what we now know as the “surprise drop” in December 2013, with her self-titled visual album that “stopped the world.”

Still today, Beyoncé continually sets the standard for artists in the industry with her vividly realized, richly conceptual album campaigns.

After a long wait since her last full-length solo album Lemonade, earlier this week she announced that her seventh, RENAISSANCE will be released on July 29. With the lead single, BREAK MY SOUL, being released this morning, we finally have the first taste of what Bey’s album will sound like.

BREAK MY SOUL is the first single from the star’s upcoming album, RENAISSANCE.

The track is produced by Bey, Tricky Stewart, and The-Dream - the same team behind Beyoncé’s iconic“Single Ladies”.

The song loosely samples both Robin S.’s 1993 hit Show Me Love and Big Freedia’s Explode and is fused in the traditional ‘90s house music with a driving kick drum, and bouncy keyboards. Throughout the record, we hear Big Freedia chant:

“Release your anger, release your mind/ Release your job, release the time/ Release your trade, release the stress/ Release the love, forget the rest.”

The song release officially marks the beginning of summer with the beats immediately forcing you to move and reminiscent of a majestic summer party. The lyrics themselves emanate the motivation we needed after what the world has gone through:

“Motivation/I done found me a new foundation/And I’m taking my new salvation/And imma build my own foundation”

The record also showcases the stunning Bey vocals we are used to and an explosive rap delivery that make the lyrics about resiliency and reaching greatness illuminate. The album (which is said to be in 2 parts) is already looking like everything we have hoped for.

According to sources, the album will include “dance and country-leaning” songs, with contributions from star composer Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote her 2008 hit “Halo.” Raphael Saadiq is also reportedly participating in the album. He has notably written songs for Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo, and Stevie Wonder, and produced Solange’s 2016 album.

We rarely know anything when it comes to Beyoncé, but what we know for sure is that the album will be released on July 29 and that we will definitely still be surprised.
